Welcome to Baltimore

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) Annual Conference is coming to Baltimore from March 21-24, 2012. NAPO Baltimore is looking forward to welcoming organizing and productivity professionals from around the world as they converge upon Charm City this spring! If you'll be here for conference, bookmark this page and follow us on Twitter for great tips and information about Baltimore, and feel free to ask us questions!
Weather
In March, the average low temperature in Baltimore is 39° and the average high is 57°. It can get breezy by the water. We have a saying around here: "If you don't like the weather in Baltimore, just wait 10 minutes." It can literally be 20° and snowy one day, and 60° and sunny the next. Here's hoping for (relative) warmth and sun during conference!
Transportation
See the 2012 conference website for some very helpful details on ground transportation into and out of the city. A 2011 study by Walk Score ranked Baltimore the 14th most walkable of 50 largest U.S. cities. Once you're here, it's very easy and fast to get around by car, bus or taxi. Don't hesitate to hop on the Charm City Circulator, Baltimore's new fleet of hybrid-electric buses. Best part: they're FREE and you can download the free CCC bus tracker app for your Android or iPhone. There are plenty of cab companies here, but one of our favorites is Raven Cab Company because their taxis are "Ravens Purple!"
Food and Drink
The conference hotel is located very close to Harborplace and The Gallery, which contains many chain restaurants within walking distance. It wins points for convenience, but any Baltimore local will tell you the best downtown restaurants are to be found in the neighborhoods surrounding the harbor: Federal Hill, Harbor East, Little Italy, Fells Point, Canton, Mount Vernon... and Hampden a little farther to the north.
Here is a map we custom-created just for you to point you in the right direction when you're looking for good food and good atmosphere without falling into a tourist trap. It's far from complete, but it was compiled by a couple of city-dwelling Professional Organizers who know a good dining experience when they see one. Let us know if you have any questions!
