When we are working with clients, we are very attuned to their needs, and helping them achieve their goals. We end up lifting, twisting, bending, even sitting on the floor for hours, especially when we are working with clients that are no longer capable of doing these things for themselves. In order to be able to be effective and stay healthy, we also need to prioritize our safety!
For this month’s chapter meeting, we have invited Mary Anne Newkirk of TouchPower to present “I DIDN’T KNOW THAT: Using Your Body More Wisely to Minimize Pain and Avoid Injury”
Mary Anne Newkirk is a Licensed Massage Therapist, in practice since 2002. Her practice focuses on helping clients live their lives with maximum function and minimal pain. She uses a wide variety of massage and manual therapy techniques to remove knots and tight areas in the muscles. Helping clients see the connection between their activities and impacts on their bodies so they can make more informed choices about posture and other self-care activities is a key element of her practice. Certified in Orthopedic Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy, she has completed over 300 hours of continuing education. Her office is located in Ellicott City, MD. TouchPower.us
Our featured business partner for this month is Bruce James with Flood Department & Compassion Clean. Bruce will tell us more about his company and services, as well as some environmental hazards we should keep an eye out for when working on site with clients. FloodDepartment.com
